One year ago, I opened my heart out to one of the most misunderstood (and sometimes hated) characters in the Halo universe.

It feels like only yesterday sometimes. Sometimes you may look at this and call it immature and ask me: why don’t I do this for a real person? Well why do I do it? Because I feel like it, that is all. Some fictional characters have a special place in my heart, and those that are underrated, hated, misunderstood, etc. deserve some recognition.
But the Ur-Didact is needing it the most, and I begin to love him as the character that he is once I learned he was more than meets the eye.
The first year of having a favourite character is always a difficult one. During the first year, you’re in love with that character so much that you don’t want to share them with anyone. I have been through this phase many times, and with the Ur-Didact, that is hopefully the last time I go through it. I no longer consider him only mine and mine alone.
He belongs to all the fans, and holds a special place in my heart for being one of the first villains I fell for.
Despite my wish for him to be treated better by 343i, I never gave up on him.
My Forerunner, my Shadow of Sundered Star my love
Stay with me, just one more night, before the storm comes
Those lyrics are taken from the second song I wrote for him, which is based of Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time”
My Didact fangirlism is now 1 year old, and may it continue on for many more, two hearts as one.
