E3 2019 – Silksong Gameplay

It’s June, that means it’s time for pride month; much love and respect to my LGBTQ+ friends, school will soon be out for the kids, and of course for gamers like myself, June means it’s time for E3. An annual event where developers come together to hold press conferences to reveal upcoming new games. We sometimes even get to see a sneak peek at the gameplay.

I surprisingly never paid much attention to E3 and only let it grab my attention if I was expecting something particular to be announced. This year I was only hoping for news about Halo MCC (looks like that isn’t happening this year since the Xbox conference only revealed Halo: Infinite) and of course, Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Thankfully, I did get some news about Silksong from Nintendo’s conference where they did a live gameplay. I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad it involved three women streaming their gameplay because as I have said before, we need more recognition in the gaming industry from every position. So that was a step in the right direction.

Watching it made me even more excited for Silksong. I feel like Hornet’s style is what I will end up preferring over the Knight: she’s a lot more acrobatic and agile.

Instead of descending into the depths of a ruined kingdom, we’ll be ascending one that appears to have some religious appeal. There was one area shown in the gameplay where there were lots of bells for instance, like being inside a church.

Geo is replaced with rosary beads, soul is replaced with silk, and spells are replaced with tools. There’s so much to cover and if only I could just have a release date….I doubt it’ll be pricey on Steam but then again, I don’t want Team Cherry to rush. Take your time and work hard to make it good. We’ll be waiting.

Also, a little update on the original game. I started playing again and was able to get through the White Palace with a little bit of luck and patience, but I think I’ll pass on Path of Pain.

Now Hornet can come to my aid in the final battle which is exactly what I need right now while I wait for Silksong.

    1. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a master at platforming to enjoy it! It just requires a bit of practice and patience. I’m glad I was able to return to the first game and complete that hard part I desired to get through. I love Hornet now that I might get that plushie of her. 💖
