The Witcher S2 E6 – Dear Friend…

Welcome back to another episode recap, this one really brought in some reunions and new introductions.

The Witcher' Recap: Season 2, Episode 6 "Dear Friend"

Geralt and Yen share a brief reunion when the former takes Ciri to the temple of Melitele to visit and old friend that can help Ciri learn to control her Elder Blood powers.

I at first thought Geralt and Yen were going to have a lot of catching up to do, especially since their separation, Yen was upset that Geralt’s final wish was to have them bound which gave her a sense that her feelings for him were artificial.

How did she get to the temple without magic? It seems characters can walk for days on end, but she finally got to meet Ciri. I really hope the books tell me more about Yen’s fascination with unicorns. The only time I got to see real unicorns was in the Fablesphere with Syanna. It was nice to see them together almost like a family for the first time.

Nevertheless, when the temple is attacked by Rience, Yen uses this opportunity to use the Orbuculum to escape with Ciri since she has her own intentions with the girl, to get her chaos back. However, that was not before Rience stole the vial of Elder Blood from Kaer Morhen.

Also, the saddest moment was when Geralt’s beloved mare, Roach was clawed by a Chernabog and he was forced to euthanize her.

The political piece of this season has always been hard for me to follow, but I’ve noticed that Fringilla has been warming up in the presence of the elves in the alliance she’s forged. However, there may be a sign that she needs to reconsider her priorities when she receives word that the Emperor himself is coming.

Pretty dramatic episode, we’ll see how this builds up towards the finale because I’m less than halfway there now.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
