The One With The Top Hat

Okay, this dream was several nights ago and I still can’t believe I remember enough pieces of it by now to actually write about it here.

Well, I guess my first post of 2021 will be this dream! The title sounds like it’s an episode of Friends, but that’s not what this dream was about.

When I finally fell asleep, I woke up in a cabin and went outside to see that I was in my old summer camp that I went to until 2007. Only this time it was winter and the place was coated in a thick blanket of snow. I wandered around admiring the scenery while singing to myself. I came to the center of the campsite where the trampoline was, coated in snow and on the ground I found a black top hat with silver chains on the front.

Fangirling once I knew who it belonged to, I put it on and started skipping around singing more. Other campers emerged from their cabins, assuming I had woken them up, or they were just looking for some fresh air. I began to ask around if anyone had seen the hat’s owner anywhere and nobody had an answer for me.

I wondered did I steal the hat to lure the owner to me, or did I find it and want to find it. As I continued to walk, search, and sing, more snow began to fall, and I was singing The Phantom of the Opera. I started to twirl around in the center of a clearing and not once did the hat fall off my head. Then, the silence was broken by the sound of those familiar keys of that song, the organ blaring through the trees and I started to follow the sound.

The music continued and I began to sing along:

In sleep he sang to me
In dreams he came
That voice which calls to me
And speaks my name

And do I dream again
For now I find

The Phantom of the Opera is there
Inside my mind

I weaved through the trees continuing to sing until I came to a clearing and there he was, Tuomas, playing the keys to the song, he turned and looked when he saw me arrive and a slight smile appeared on his lips. I approached him, and removed the hat knowing it was his and placed it on the bench beside him. He told me to keep singing which I did as he played.

I’m no Tarja, but I’m still a solid singer, and when we concluded the song, the snowflakes continued to fall,

He asked me if I wanted to do another song and I said yes, remarking that I had a beautiful voice and didn’t recall how he had lost his favorite hat, but thanked me for finding it. I said I knew he was around somewhere if he had lost it, and then he started up another song: Sleeping Sun.

I woke up after that song and I can’t seem to share any summaries of these dreams on Facebook without being teased by my best friend, who is a die-hard Nightwish fan! Also, I’m flattered by the number of people who liked my story posts from last night; something that I originally planned to publish today, but decided to earlier instead.

I think it’s a cool new feature; however it could use some improvement like image adjustment, but I would love to keep using it to keep my followers posted on previews of what’s in store.

Anyway, not as romantic as that last dream, but still worthy of the blog.
